SAN MATEO, Calif., Aug 26, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), the global leader in on-demand mobile and Internet test & measurement solutions for continuously improving the online experience, today announced the immediate availability of Streaming Perspective(R) 5.0, the market-leading on demand solution for measuring the quality and reliability of streaming media from the perspective of end users. The new version is now completely integrated within MyKeynote 9.0 (also announced today; see separate press release), thus providing content producers, aggregators, distributors, service providers and Web site operators a single unified portal for measuring, diagnosing, alerting and reporting of their streaming video and audio measurements directly alongside their Web performance and mobile measurements providing a comprehensive view into the online user experience from multiple geographic locations around the world.

"Streaming video and audio is growing exponentially and increasingly ingrained with Web sites. Therefore, this was the ideal time to integrate all the powerful functionality, reporting and alerting features of Streaming Perspective directly within the powerful MyKeynote portal that our customers use to view and administer their Web and mobile site monitoring measurements running with Keynote," said Vik Chaudhary, vice president of product management and corporate development at Keynote.

Keynote has lead the streaming video and audio test and measurement industry for more than 8 years and its StreamQ(TM) rating has become the de facto industry-standard metric for measuring the streaming media experience from the end user perspective. Streaming Perspective combines the frustration time users experience because of long connect times, initial buffer time and any rebuffer events that occur during stream playback into a single StreamQ rating.

New features of Streaming Perspective 5.0 include:

  • All monitoring data is available from within MyKeynote 9.0, Keynote's new single unified Web portal for easy access, diagnosis, troubleshooting, visualization and reporting of video and audio stream performance data, along with all Web and mobile measurements. Extensive configuration options are provided within MyKeynote 9.0 that allow customizable reporting, provisioning, alarming and instant email alerts for quick troubleshooting.
  • Customizable start page to show saved graphs and alarms.
  • Easy interface to view, search and group larger numbers of streams.
  • Self-service provisioning interface.
  • Increased variety of graphs including time history, agent, carrier, distribution, metro graphs, long-term graphs and scatter plot.
  • Drill-down into data points on graphs.
  • The ability for graphs to be generated and shared via a saved URL, PDF or image.
  • Multiple windows showing both summary and detailed performance data.
  • Diagnostic tools allowing for the testing of Internet connectivity from any measurement computer location.
  • A complete list visualizing all the streams within the Keynote system on a "Streaming Overview" page.
  • Enhanced provisioning within the Keynote Service Center (KSC) allows the creation of logins with either 'admin' or 'view user' permissions area. Additionally, multiple logins can be easily created to view the same streams and streams can be provisioned using either a URL or test script.
  • Enhanced alarming and service-level reports can be based on response times, availability, error codes and agents. Customizable alarming is now provided where each login can have its own alarms and reports for each stream. Alarms can now be set on components, total frustration time, resolve time, connect time, buffer time, playback time, rebuffer time, average bit rate, frame rate, packets received, packets lost and total packets.
