Keynote DeviceAnywhere Helps Sprint Developers Port iDEN Apps to CDMA Rugged Devices

SAN MATEO, Calif., Apr 24, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Keynote(R) Systems (Nasdaq:KEYN) subsidiary, Keynote DeviceAnywhere(R), the global leader in mobile application lifecycle management (mobile ALM), has announced a collaboration to give developers remote access to real devices from Sprint's line of ruggedized handsets. The dedicated resource, powered by Keynote DeviceAnywhere, will be available to members of the "Sprint Gets Rugged" program, which is designed to help developers port their iDEN apps to Sprint's rugged line of CDMA handsets.

Using the remote testing resource, mobile app testers can access real handsets on Sprint's CDMA network via the Internet. This allows app developers to target the ruggedized device market without having to physically acquire the handsets, therefore decreasing the overall cost of development and speeding up their time-to-market. Featured devices include the Motorola MB612 (XPRT), the Sanyo 4100 (Taho), and Kyocera's Duramax Pro 820, DuraCore, and DuraPlus.

In addition to direct access to devices and testing tools, the Sprint Gets Rugged program provides up-to-date information on newly announced ruggedized handsets, open APIs and application lifestyle management APIs. It also supplies the information and the tools that developers need to better understand the handset and platform functionality.

"The Sprint Gets Rugged program gives our developers everything they need to port iDEN apps to CDMA phones," commented John Tudhope, Director of Product Marketing, Sprint. "One of the most fundamental aspects of the program is the collaboration with Keynote DeviceAnywhere, which gives developers round-the-clock access to real ruggedized devices from the comfort of their home or office."

"Rugged devices are a lifeline for people in professions and lifestyles with a demanding outdoor environment, where standard devices are simply not tough enough to cope," said Faraz Syed, President of Keynote DeviceAnywhere. "The need for durable handsets will never go away, so it makes sense for developers to take the market seriously and ensure that their apps work flawlessly on these devices."
