-- Streaming Video Monitoring Joins Web and Mobile, All Under a Single Unified Portal for a Comprehensive View Into the Online Experience
-- Efficient Monitoring of Large and Complex Web Sites Made Easier With New Features for Labeling, Sorting and Filtering Performance Measurements
-- Alarm Enhancements Provide Additional Capabilities for Identifying and Troubleshooting Web Performance Issues Quickly and Easily to Shorten the Mean Time to Repair
SAN MATEO, Calif., Aug 26, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), the global leader in on-demand mobile
and Internet test & measurement solutions for continuously improving
the online experience, today announced the immediate availability of
MyKeynote 9.0, the world's most powerful online performance monitoring
portal that now provides a single unified view into the performance of Web
and mobile
transactions and streaming video (see separate press release
issued today announcing Streaming Perspective(R) 5.0). MyKeynote 9.0
enables Web operations departments to move at the speed of the Web by
offering the industry's only single unified portal for measuring,
monitoring and testing Web sites & applications, mobile sites &
device-resident applications and streaming video - all from the end user
perspective.
In addition to providing a single unified portal, MyKeynote 9.0 offers
many additional enhancements for large enterprises including faster
problem detection and resolution.
"Keynote has seen first-hand the fast pace of change and increasing
complexity of the Web. Web sites now include the ability to handle very
complex transactions. Examples include rich content such as Adobe Flash
and Silverlight that occupy the most prominent portions of home pages,
more components per page, content integration from 3rd
parties, asynchronous application communication, much larger sites in
terms of number of Web pages, more complex back-end server integrations
and geographically distributed customer profiles," said Vik Chaudhary,
vice president of product management and corporate development at
Keynote.
"These technical developments represent fundamental shifts occurring on
the Internet. Our customers require Web Performance monitoring and
measurement solutions that keep pace with the speed of the Web, and
Keynote is delivering on that demand," continued Mr. Chaudhary.
A Single Unified Portal for Testing & Monitoring Online Businesses
Streaming video has been steadily increasing in deployment and
importance. With today's announcement Keynote has fully integrated its
industry-leading Streaming
Perspective monitoring product into the MyKeynote portal (see
separate press release issued today announcing Streaming Perspective
5.0), creating a consolidated gateway into the world's largest and most
accurate measurement network for testing and monitoring Web Performance,
mobile devices, services and applications and now also streaming video.
MyKeynote 9.0's most impressive advancement is that it now includes a
single unified portal offering an unprecedented view into the
performance, from the end user perspective, of connected and mobile Web
sites, mobile services and streaming video.
Additionally, the same measurement provisioning, graphing, reporting and
alarming capabilities for monitoring connected Web sites now work across
the full range of Keynote products. While other companies talk about a
platform approach, Keynote delivers a unified SaaS portal today to help
online businesses test and monitor the performance and usability of all
their Web and mobile properties including those containing streaming
video.
Support for Large Enterprises: Email Groups and New Sorting/Filtering
Features
MyKeynote 9.0 now makes it even easier for large enterprises to manage
large numbers of Keynote measurements. For example, customers with 50,
100 or more Keynote measurements will appreciate the new 'email groups'
feature. Operations teams can create multiple email groups and then
email groups of people rather than dozens of individual email addresses,
when specifying alarm and report recipients. With centrally managed
email groups it is now a snap to add and/or remove recipients of Keynote
reports and alarms.
Additionally MyKeynote 9.0 introduces new sorting and filtering
capabilities including user defined measurement labels that allow for
efficiently organizing site performance measurements by theme such as by
Web property or transaction type. These enhancements make the ability to
manage large numbers of performance measurements a breeze.
MyKeynote 9.0 alarming has been significantly upgraded with alarm
message formatting, mass alarms editing and logging. Taken together,
these enhancements make Keynote alarming capabilities more powerful than
ever before. Keynote alarms frequently provide Network Operations the
first warning of online performance problems prior to other systems and
monitoring devices.
Faster Problem Detection and Resolution
MyKeynote 9.0 enables operations teams to reduce the Mean Time to Repair
(MTTR) in response to outages in several ways:
-
MyKeynote 9.0 adds critical items to alerts including, for example,
the three slowest objects as measured from each of the three slowest
geographic locations from which a customer is monitoring site
performance.
-
With MyKeynote 9.0 operations teams can now set alarms on the number
of page elements and the download file size in order to identify
potential performance problems before they occur.
-
As Keynote customers increasingly monitor complex transactions, a new
"Script Viewer" feature has been introduced that makes life much
easier for operations teams by providing access to transaction details
directly from within MyKeynote. When an alarm is triggered it can be
challenging to figure out exactly which step in the transaction caused
the problem and the new "Script Viewer" makes that identification
process shorter and more efficient.

"Moving at the Speed of the Web" - The Most Ambitious Web Performance
Technology Rollout in the Industry
MyKeynote 9.0 & Streaming Perspective 5.0 is part of a series of product
releases from Keynote this summer marking the most ambitious rollout of

capability to accurately measure end user performance of Interactive
Flash and Silverlight-based Rich Internet Applications (RIAs).
Transaction Perspective 9.0 is expected to be available to all Keynote
customers in mid-September. Keynote will be making additional
announcements in the weeks ahead.
